Ingrown toenails, nail fungus

We're here to help!

At Wiemken Foot and Ankle, we specialize in the diagnosis of an array of issues related to the skin and toenails. Common diagnoses that we are experienced in treating include:

Toenail Fungus
A common complaint of patients that can cause nail thickening, debris build up,
leading to brittle toenails. We offer various treatment options, such as topical
antifungal medications, oral medications, and nail debridement.

Athlete’s Foot

  • Fungal infection of the foot often occurs in people whose feet have become very sweaty while confined within tight-fitting shoes.

  • Symptoms include a scaly rash that usually causes itching, stinging, and burning.

  • People with athlete's foot can have moist, raw skin between their toes.

  • Treatment often consists of prescription antifungals, powders, or oral medications.

Corns/Calluses

  • Calluses are areas of hardened, thickened skin that often form on the soles of the
feet. Our expert podiatrists offer foot callus treatment to safely remove calluses. We can also recommend proper footwear and foot hygiene practices to preventreoccurrence.

  •  Corns often develop on the tops and sides of feet and between the toes. They're
benign and can also be found in weight-bearing areas. Symptoms include
hardened, raised bumps surrounded by inflamed skin. They can be painful whenpressed. We can recommend padding or regular debridement.

Ingrown toenails

  •  A condition in which the corner or side of a toenail grows into the flesh causing pain,
redness, drainage and potentially an infection.

  • The condition usually affects the big toe. People who have diabetes are at greater
    risk of complications.

  • Lifting or removing a portion of the toenail can help. Antibiotics might be needed.

Plantar Warts

  • These small growths caused by a viral infection can be painful and affect your
daily activities. Our team can explore different treatment modalities, includingtopical medications, cryotherapy, or laser therapy.

These are just some common issues that we routinely diagnose and treat at Wiemken Foot and Ankle but are not limited to other ailments that can affect patients. If you are experiencing any of the problems listed above or have another complaints regarding the skin and nails, please feel free to make an appointment to be seen by one of our experienced providers!
